Ah, the wonders of the Internet - here we have a Google ad for Jones Soda appearing above our vicious 2008 bash of the same company.

Oh, and Happy New Year!

Don't expect much from the Belltown Dispatch in 2010 other than an occasional post. This site remains a no-budget not-for-profit experiment through 2011.

We're breaking stories. Our readership is up. But we need your donations or advertising

"Our goal is have 1,000 people commit to donating just $10-a-month to give us some breathing room."

Accessing the news is just as easy, or rather as natural as breathing nowadays.

We turn on the tv, we browse the Internet, we fetch the newspaper from the mailbox, then poof! we have our dish of the day's news.

"Vote or Cry" comedy show to Get Out the Vote.

On Saturday November 1st (the weekend before the Presidential Election) The People's Republic of Komedy (PROK) will present a night of political humor at the Jewel Box Theater in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood.

"Vote or Cry" will feature some of the Northwest's best political comics, along with short films and political sketch comedy. Besides putting on a great show, producers hope to encourage their mostly 20-something audience to get out and vote, since many of them will be doing it for the first time.

"Some of our fans don't even remember 2000," says writer/comedian Paul Merrill, the organizer of the event. "I do. A lot of people thought Al Gore had it in the bag. Obviously, it didn't work out that way. We need to get as many people to the polls as possible."

In addition to the Jewel Box show, PROK will also be hosting a special Election...

We like the Belltown/Downtown-related stuff Monica Guzman writes for the P-I.

"The Cascade neighborhood coffee shop that earned international fame for its t-shirt mockery of the South Lake Union "trolley" - a.k.a. the S.L.U.T. - has a new target.

"Paul Allen, they're coming for you."

Please note - we here at the spittoon-laden Dispatch offices love MSM Newspaper blogs but rarely read the comments that come after. The Dispatch is developing a strict comments policy - no profanity unless in the context of a quote, no trolls, write as if you were carefully snail-mailing a letter to the editor - and other authoritarian rules. Stay tuned.
