We're breaking stories. Our readership is up. But we need your donations or advertising "Our goal is have 1,000 people commit to donating just $10-a-month to give us some breathing room." Hmmm.....
Accessing the news is just as easy, or rather as natural as breathing nowadays. We turn on the tv, we browse the Internet, we fetch the newspaper from the mailbox, then poof! we have our dish of the day's news. Most people claim that convergence in the Internet has strengthened civic awareness and participation through the blogs. In this sense, people are able to air out sentiments and comment on the hottest news that may directly or indirectly concern them and their community. This holds true for millions of blog sites mushrooming in the Internet today. However, alongside this remarkable change in the socio-political sphere via the Internet lies the unsettled quest for true, objective and fair news. Thus we ask ourselves, from where can we get THIS news nowadays? This was the problem that my group mates and I faced for our final workshop in Introduction to Communication, a class taught by Dr. Veronica Isla last April to May. Intro to Com is two of the very first communication subjects that we took as incoming junior...

We like the Belltown/Downtown-related stuff Monica Guzman writes for the P-I. Please note - we here at the spittoon-laden Dispatch offices love MSM Newspaper blogs but rarely read the comments that come after. The Dispatch is developing a strict comments policy - no profanity unless in the context of a quote, no trolls, write as if you were carefully snail-mailing a letter to the editor - and other authoritarian rules. Stay tuned. |
