This press release from McGinn for Mayor promises that "In 2008 alone, the music industry in Seattle directly created over 11,000 jobs."

How about this one: "To help cut down on incidents after establishments close, the city should work with the state Liquor Control Board to encourage staggered closing times." Perfect - we'll just make the Rendezvous close at 11, maybe the Five Point could voluntarily close at 3A.M. Close Neumo's at 8Pm and make all those folks traipse over to the Comet, which will voluntarily close at 10:43. I look forward to the staggered closing times that McGinn will create using his longstanding influence with the State Liquor Board.

We'll preserve the press release here for posterity and maybe revisit it later in the campaign.

This is the formula for most blogs right now, right? Link to a story in a general-interest big city daily newspaper that someone else wrote, and then post a sentence or two of witty comments of your own underneath? Don't forget to stick in someone else's artwork.

"In effect, Hempfest is not only the largest marijuana protestival in the world, it is also a massive act of civil disobedience. Even though Seattle has its lowest priority policy and Washington state has decriminalized pot possession, marijuana use and possession is still against the law."
